Republicans rolled out their newly drafted House farm bill Friday, claiming nearly $40 billion in savings over the next decade — much of it from food stamps but also reflecting a major rewrite of commodity programs for producers.
The release followed on the heels of Senate Democrats unveiling their own farm bill Thursday evening and sets the stage for back-to-back markups next Tuesday and Wednesday in the Senate and House Agriculture committees.
