UCPD officer accidentally shoots himself in leg

A UCPD officer was transported to the hospital Tuesday morning after accidentally shooting himself in the leg while getting ready for work.

UC PD spokesperson Lt. Eric Tejada said the officer was getting dressed at 8:45 a.m. when he accidentally discharged his weapon in the department’s locker room in Sproul Hall. After other officers assisted the 20-year veteran in the department’s locker room, he was transported to the hospital for “nonthreatening injuries,” Tejada said.
