In one of the country’s most acrimonious Senate races, Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin continues to hold a narrow lead in Wisconsin over former Gov. Tommy Thompson, one of the state’s longtime political heavyweights and a favorite to win for much of the year.
A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News/Marist Poll survey of likely voters in the Badger State finds Ms. Baldwin leading Mr. Thompson, 49% to 45%, double the margin from late September when Ms. Baldwin led 48%-46%. The latest poll indicates the barrage of negative ads from both sides is doing the most damage to Mr. Thompson’s candidacy.
