AMCAL Multi-Housing Inc. broke ground Friday on a new 32-unit apartment complex.
The new building, at 9800 MacArthur Blvd., will offer one-, two- and three- bedroom apartments.
AMCAL received $4.8 million in funding from the city of Oakland for the new building, which CEO Percy Vaz will provide affordable housing.
This will be AMCAL's second housing complex in east Oakland.
The structure is scheduled to be completed in summer 2013.
