An Alameda Superior Court judge Tuesday ordered two Oakland hotels shut down for a year and each owner pay $15,000 in fines because they had been a hub of prostitution and child sex trafficking.

Judge Brenda Harbin-Forte ruled in the city attorney’s favor calling “the prostitution activity at the Economy Inn egregious.” Harbin-Forte issued the ruling against the Economy Inn – one of two Oakland hotels the city attorney targeted for shut down because of criminal activities. The other was the National Lodge at 1711 International Boulevard.
