Daylight Saving Time returns this weekend. That means Sunday morning, or Saturday before you go to bed, it's time to Spring Forward, and set your clock ahead an hour.
The good news is the sun will be up longer in the evenings, giving you more time to do a post-work run or play catch with the kids. The bad news is you'll temporarily throw your circadian rhythm out of whack.
There's bad news for your boss, too. Barnes was part of a research team that concluded sleepy employees spend a lot more time surfing the web for personal reasons than well-rested workers do. It's a term coined cyberloafing, and the researchers found the Monday after the switch to DST is primetime for the practice.
"When people are low on sleep, they are less effective in exerting self-control, and therefore especially vulnerable to the temptation of cyberloafing," Barnes explains.
