Premier of The Island President in the Bay Area

The Island President follows climate-champion Mohamed Nasheed, the democratically-elected president of the Maldives who was recently forced to resign in a coup d'etat orchestrated by the military and forces loyal to the former dictator. The film also profiles a lot of 350.org events -- from underwater press conferences to Copenhagen -- and gives a behind the scenes look at the negotiations and compromises at the 2009 UN Climate Talks. Watch the trailer for more information on the film: www.theislandpresident.com

Full showtimes will be announced when the film opens, so check the websites of each theater. Help support the film by turning out a big crowd on opening night!

In this installment of Rooted and Rising, we will gain insight into this prolific campaign through examining key strategies, as well as develop an understanding of what is yet to come. We will discover what has made the Keystone XL campaign so effective and apply this knowledge to movement building in a broader context. Join Jamie Henn of 350.org, Ellen Choy of Movement Generation, and Shadia Fayne Wood of Project Survival Media.
