Oakland police officers had written authorization to use tear gas against Occupy movement protestors prior to the October 25th confrontation that left an Iraq War veteran critically injured.
New documents released as the result of a Freedom of Information act from the Associated Press show the operational plan for the event included telling local commanders they could use chemical agents if needed to disperse crowds.
The newly released orders do not indicate who specifically authorized the use of non-lethal force against the demonstrators.
