Democrats Urge Obama to Protect Contraceptive Coverage in Health Plans

A dispute has erupted between President Obama and Democrats in Congress over a proposal to broaden the exemption from new rules that require health insurance plans to cover contraceptives for women free of charge.

But after protests by Roman Catholic bishops, charities, schools and universities, the White House is considering a change that would grant a broad exemption to health plans sponsored by employers who object to such coverage for moral and religious reasons.

**Opinion**

Once again, President Obama has reneged on a stance that he once supported upon taking office: reproductive rights. Along with that, my opinion of him continues to deteriorate. Why should churches, employers, universities, hospitals, clinics, and other entities associated with religious organizations, have a say in an individuals choice regarding contraceptive coverage? Isn't in the interest of employers to have childless employees!? This, among other flip-flops further lead me to question how much of a Democrat the president really is, or if he is one at all!?
