Recent allegations that Facebook tracks users’ online activity even after they have logged out of the social-networking site have spawned a class-action lawsuit in California federal court.
Seven putative lead plaintiffs filed the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California’s San Jose division.
U.S. District Judge Paul Singh Grewal is slated to hear the plaintiffs’ complaint for violations of the federal Wiretap Act, 18 U.S.C. § 2511; the Stored Electronic Communications Act, 18 U.S.C. § 2701; and the anti-hacking Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1030.
