Gun control bill in Gov. Brown's hands

A measure to bar Californians from openly carrying weapons is supported by Sheriff Baca and LAPD Chief Beck, but opposed by 2nd Amendment activists who pack heat in coffee shops and restaurants.

**Opinion**

Guns are completely out of control in CA. Indeed, it's like the wild, wild, west. In fact, I've heard that the common saying in Oakland, CA, is, "not everyone has a gun, but every other person does." What is also astounding and goes along with that, is how the residents just seem to accept it - as if there isn't a viable solution to curb the alarming amount of guns in the state and the violence that comes along with it.

What I also found to be disturbing is how some people carry themselves when in possession of a gun. From my experiences, they've projected a feeling of intimidation amongst those surrounding them. On top of it, these people doing such, are many times professionals serving the public. While some may argue that not many crimes are committed by those legally possessing, the flip side to that is, how many people are protected by such or help to protect the public due to it? Overall, if a gun doesn't exist a shooting cannot occur, therefore, a statistic won't arise.
