This is part of the reason why it is important for everyone to make an educated vote. Continuously allowing people to be elected that don't represent your best interests result in similar outcomes and for history to repeat itself. Along with this, there needs to be an overhaul in the electoral process. There needs to be caps on elections to ensure that money isn't buying interests. If we can't get non-wealthy, non-influenced (some may say everyday) people elected, then how can we expect them to understand, relate and represent the interests of the people similar to themselves!? I'd say the chances are very slim.
