Friends -
We're getting close to the end of our action here in DC, and in the few free moments I've had between all the trainings, sit-ins and time spent talking to media, I can't help but have my mind turn to the future of this incredible thing we've started together.
There are a few things we know for sure, but lots is up in the air. We know the danger this pipeline poses. We know that the President will be making a decision about it sometime in November or December. We know that before then there will be a series of hearings run by the State Department in each of the states the pipeline runs through.
Most importantly, we know that we have to keep this energy going if we want to stop the pipeline and start putting us on track to the future that our children and grandchildren deserve.
Talking to folks here at the action, I also know that we have what it takes. I'm starting up conversations with the organizers here in DC about what's next, and it's obvious that this movement has incredible potential.
I hate to get us started with asking for money, but we've run up a few debts (mainly for logistics, and for keeping our organizing staff fed and housed) that need to be taken care of. Getting finances squared away will be a good first step towards our big plans to come, and if we raise enough, we'll be able to put some of our key organizers to work keeping our momentum going.
Can you pitch in a few bucks to keep this show on the road? If we can get some cash on hand we'll be able to get started on the next steps right away, and really keep the pressure on.

This is just the beginning of what I hope will be a long collaboration. I hope each of you is as proud of what we've accomplished as I am. Let's keep going.
PS - Many of you have asked about actions taking place in Canada. Now we know something about that too - a group of Canadians are planning their own action on the 26th. Visit http://ottawaaction.ca/ for more.
